US Navy Cruise Books are unofficial publications published by a ship's crew to document a cruise or deployment. The number of copies of a cruise book is very limited. Several commands only order copies for about 2/3 of the crew as a rule of thumb. Creating those books is an old tradition in the US Navy. This tradition dates back to the late. N-JN PACIFIC OCEAN (Jan. 1, ) Lt. j.g. Jason Crile writes a New Year’s Day poem in the ship’s log book at the stroke of midnight on the bridge of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72).

Service.   In deck logs from (which include World War II and the Korean War), columnar data were recorded on a separate sheet (and sometimes a separate book) than remarks. In deck logs from (which includes the Vietnam War), columnar data were recorded at the top of each day’s remarks sheet.

Logbook App is an automated electronic logbook on your iPhone. Logbook App is designed by sailors for sailors, a powerboat owner will find it worthwhile as well. The term log-book has an interesting derivation in itself. An early form of measuring a ship’s progress was by casting overboard a wooden board (the log) with a string attached. The rate at which the string was paid out as the ship moved away from the stationary log was measured by counting how long it took between knots n the string.
